Waco is located in McLennan County in central eastern Texas. Waco is the 26th largest city in Texas, and 195th in the entire US. Downtown Waco is relatively small, especially when compared to other major Texas cities. However, it is still considered a “hub” of sorts for the central region of the state.

Waco’s economy is defined by education manufacturing and transportation. The city is home to three colleges including Baylor University, McLennan Community College and Texas State Technical College. It is also home to the Waco Independent School District which has four high schools, seven middle schools and over 20 primary schools.

Waco is right in the heart of the Texas manufacturing and technology corridor. The city pushes innovative industrial development. The most common industries for males in the Waco area were in construction and education, and for females, education and health care.
