El Paso is located in El Paso County, and is the 6th largest city in the state of Texas and the 22nd largest city in America. It is located among the Rio Grande area right across the border from Ciudad Juárez in Mexico, and to the westernmost corner, where it lies at the intersection of Texas, New Mexico and Chihuahua, Mexico.

El Paso is a major entry point to and from America from Mexico, which contributes to its economy. Some of the most important industries in the city include food production, clothing, education, construction, electronic and medical equipment, and plastic. However, tourism, livestock, fruits and vegetables are also popular industries.

Educational facilities make up the largest employers in the area, including The University of Texas at El Paso and the El Paso Independent School District.
