ClimateWorks Foundation in San Francisco, CA seeks Executive Director, CLUA.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Lead, direct, and develop CLUA (The Climate and Land Use Alliance) -- a division of ClimateWorks Foundation. Devise strategies, formulate policies and provide day-to-day management including fiscal oversight, talent recruitment, management of program staff, and development and tactical implementation of grant making strategy. Communicate regularly with the Board of Directors on budget, strategy and progress. Working with the Board of Directors, develop an effective “real-time" monitoring, measurement, evaluation, and adjustment system that works seamlessly with relevant partner foundation requirements. Articulate the vision and goals of CLUA to key internal and external audiences. Manage interactions with external entities including the media and potential additional donors and partners. Serve as a member of the management council at ClimateWorks and as a representative of ClimateWorks’ work in the forestry arena. Build and maintain strategic relationships with representatives at the highest levels of national and subnational governments. Set a clear and compelling vision for CLUA and communicate this vision in a persuasive manner. Position CLUA to capitalize on key opportunities. Cultivate strong and cooperative working relationships with the partner foundations, network partners, grantees, and other donors. Engage the highest levels of leadership within partner foundations, network partners, grantees, and other donors to build and nurture strategic relationships. Create a strategic, strong, dynamic, innovative, and efficient program team. Direct, motivate, and develop a professional staff in a matrix management structure. Motivate program team, provide leadership and oversight, and allocate appropriate funding, independence, and responsibility to the team. Communicate in a thoughtful, strategic, and engaging manner with all stakeholders, including ClimateWorks Foundation staff, Board, government officials, other foundations, grantees, and the press.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Environmental or Natural Sciences, Resource Management, Economics or a related field
