Position Objective: To effective manage employees to produce maximum amounts of product with minimal off-quality, and no employee accidents.
Essential Duties: (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):
- Manages and communicates with employees and departments to maintain an effective flow of material through the plant.
- Provides direction, expertise, and on-the-spot decision making to personnel on a daily basis promoting teamwork, pride, and efficiency.
- Reduces/eliminates waste and mismanagement of wood products through training of employees to ensure every useable foot of lumber is produced into hardwood flooring in a manner that ensures maximium market value.
- Able to advise employees on the proper setup of machinery and processes.
- Responsible for communicating and executing special instructions.
- Develop a working relationship with supporting areas/departments; such as, Sorter, Qualtiy Control, Maintenance, etc.
- Ensures all employees follow correct procedures.
- Monitors performance of employees and develops and communicates corrective action plans for employees requiring improvement.
- A working knowledge of all quality systems and related quality control test equipment.
- Hold daily start up and weekly meetings with employees.
- Maintain employee pay and attendance records.
- Take an active role in committees and meetings.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Candidates must be willing to work af lexible shift schedule.
This position at the present time will train on 1st shift; however, with the recent start up of a 3rd shift, there is the possibility that this could a 3rd shift position.
