Senior Network Systems Engineer – Full time position in Needham, MA

Our client is recruiting for a talented Network Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the design & support of their network systems, including Voice, Database, Storage, Networking.  The successful candidate will be a senior resource for their Network Operations Center team as an escalation point, and assists in long term planning of their infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide IT Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft Windows Server 2000-2008,  VMWare ESX Virtual Infrastructure , Linux Servers, Oracle Database Systems, SAN Storage Systems
• Planning and managing backup and disaster recovery systems
• Design, Implementation, & Support services for Microsoft related technologies - VMWare ESX Virtual Infrastructure , Linux Servers, Oracle Database Systems, SAN Storage Systems, Network Systems
• Technical services at the network level (i.e., network connectivity, routers, firewalls, security)
• Remote access solution implementation and support (i.e., VPN, Terminal Services)
• System documentation & consulting services to include network reviews and recommendations
• Project Management
• Advanced Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
• Rotating schedule of on-call (24/7) troubleshooting
• Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

·         Minimum 3 to 5 years in a network engineering role

·         Experience with Infrastructure, Server, and Desktop Support

·         Technical Support experience

• Windows Desktop and Server systems and other Microsoft Technologies
• Linux Server Support
• Working knowledge of database platforms such as MySQL and Oracle
• Physical Networking (switches, routers, etc)
• VoIP Service Delivery- SBC’s, Gateways, etc (Carrier/Enterprise Level)
• Phone and trouble ticket system communication
• Ability to work in a high demand environment and have the ability to give estimates and work within deadlines.
• Familiarity with voicemail, telecom carrier operations, and telecommunications are a plus
• Advanced problem solving & troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communications skills, both written (project plans, etc) and spoken.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• MCSE  Certification a plus
• Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE a plus
